Toyota Corolla 2010

A slightly upmarket version called the Sprinter was sold in the Japanese home market. It was replaced in 2001 by the Allex, which was then replaced by the Blade in 2009.

There have also been several models over the years, including the Corolla Ceres (and similar Sprinter Marino) hardtop, Corolla Levin and Sprinter Trueno sports coupés and hatchbacks, and the Corolla FX hatchback, which became the Corolla RunX, while the Sprinter became the Allex with the introduction of the ZZE128 Corolla. The RunX and Allex was replaced by the Auris in 2006 (known only as Corolla in markets outside of Japan). A compact MPV named the Corolla Verso has also been released in European markets. Its Japanese counterpart is the Corolla Spacio, which has been discontinued as of the 10th generation. The US-market Scion xB is also sold in Japan as the Corolla Rumion.

2010 Toyota Prius Hybrid

A third generation of the Toyota Prius gas-electric hybrid car has been eagerly anticipated. Though Toyota has not officially announced when the redesigned Prius would appear, unofficially, automotive journalists had been tipped to expect it sometime in 2008, as a 2009 model.
However, news reports from Japan last week said the car has been delayed by at least six months, to early 2009.
A Toyota spokesman said the company would not comment. The reason? Because no official launch date had ever been confirmed, there was no way to officially confirm a delay.
Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, a Japanese industrial publication, reported last Friday that the delay was caused by snags in developing new batteries for the electric system. The next Prius was expected to use new lithium-ion batteries. Currently, the Prius uses nickel metal hydride batteries, which take up more space and aren’t as efficient.
Whether the delay is real or not, it appears that the battery problems are plenty real. Previously, Toyota set a goal of reducing the size of the battery pack in the next Prius by 50 percent, while also increasing its efficiency.

Toyota recall September 2009

Toyota recall September 2009 list will includes 3.8 million vehicles with Faulty Floor Mats. This has been issued to fix Toyota floor mats. As reported, Toyota will recall 3.8 million vehicles in the United States to address problems with a removable floor mat that could interfere with the vehicle’s accelerator and cause a crash.
The September 2009 Toyota recall also includes 3.8 million vehicles, and encompasses their Lexus brand. According to the Toyota Company’s main press website, the problem with the cars is that the floor mat can become entangled.
Toyota says it will be the largest U.S. recall in its history, and owners may be notified about the safety campaign as early as next week. Toyota and the government warned owners of Toyota and Lexus vehicles about safety problems tied to the removable floor mats. The mats could interfere with the vehicle’s accelerator and cause a crash.
In news out of San Diego, it was this reason that led to the crash of a family driving a Lexus where the floor mat snagged the gas pedal and sent it up to 120 miles per hour before the vehicle crashed into an SUV. The mats have been blamed for that accident, and now the Toyota recall could be one of the biggest in automotive history.
According to the Toyota press release on the floor mat recall, “Recent events have prompted Toyota to take a closer look at the potential for an accelerator pedal to get stuck in the full open position due to an unsecured or incompatible driver’s floor mat.” They go on to talk about the dangers of an accelerator pedal being stuck, and that high vehicle speeds can lead to even more dangerous situations.
That part is self-explanatory, but leads to their revelation of why the Toyota and Lexus recall has become necessary. They also consider this to be an extremely critical recall, and that anyone with one of the effected vehicles needs to act immediately.
The recall will affect 2007-2010 model year Toyota Camry, 2005-2010 Toyota Avalon, 2004-2009 Toyota Prius, 2005-2010 Tacoma, 2007-2010 Toyota Tundra, 2007-2010 Lexus ES350 and 2006-2010 Lexus IS250 and IS350.

Toyota RAV4 New Cars 2010

Toyota Motor Company plans to hybridize all of their vehicles by 2020. With the prius enjoying solid control of the mid-size hybrid car market, the hybrid camry owning the full-size category, and the hybrid highlander doing well among mid-size SUVs, coloring the Rav4 green seems like a savvy next move. The current small hybrid SUV leader is the Ford Escape, so it might be the closest competitor for Toyota should they decide to bring a Rav 4 hybrid to the states. At the same time, rumors of Honda building a hybrid CRV surface now and then, and it wouldn’t surprise me to hear them again in the next few months.

Toyota Scion 2010

Founded in 2003, Scion is an interesting brand. Owned by Toyota Motor Corporation, it was created with the single aim of appealing to Generation Y consumers.

With the big T suffering the “fridge-on-wheels” image problem with younger buyers, Scion has managed to lift sales where needed. So far the brand only exists in the U.S. and all Scion vehicles are front-wheel drive hatchbacks, but that might all change.

So here is the rumour, there is talk of Scion making its way to Europe. Yep, an American Japanese car for Europeans.
